About the Consortium

The Mental Health Occupational Therapist works as part of the National Psychosocial Support Measure (NPS), a program delivered by UCWB as part of a Consortium with Neami National (lead agency), Life Without Barriers, Mind Australia, Mission Australia and Skylight Mental Health.

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Allied Health, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Undertake mental health functional capacity assessments to support participants to access NDIS services.
  • Facilitate the development and rehabilitation of clients accessing mental health services through evidence-based, goal oriented, occupational therapy treatment plans.
  • Liaison and consultation with other professional employees. 
  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders in the community, e.g. Treating GPs and other allied health professionals. 
  • Participate in continuing professional development to maintain, develop and enhance knowledge of best practice.

In addition to working within the NPSM, this role also works within UCWB’s own service delivery areas to provide NDIS and Medicare therapy work.

About You

You will have a person-centred approach in your practice with strong engagement and communication skills. Your patience, problem-solving skills and flexible attitude will see you succeed in this role.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification as an Occupational Therapist with eligibility for registration with the associated professional body
  • 1-2 years’ experience delivering mental health focused occupational therapy services
  • Experience undertaking psychological functional capacity assessments
  • Experience working with clients with a variety of complexities, with proven ability to tailor services to meet individual needs and identified goals
  • Current DHS Working with Children Check, and DHS Disability Services Employment Screening / NDIS Worker Screening Check (if WWCC issued after 1 February 2021).

This role is based at our central office in Bowden however some off-site work will be required.
