The Role

We are seeking individuals who are able to demonstrate previous success in supporting people with complex needs, focusing on those who are aged and/or people living with disability. Our Support Workers are accountable to the Team Leader, Field Workforce and are responsible for providing support to individuals and their families to remain independent in living their life the way they choose, in their community.

Duties may include:

  • Emergency respite
  • In home personal care and domestic assistance including cleaning duties and meal preparation
  • Community integration including transport and community based group social and recreational programs
    Social Support
  • General life skills and working towards goals

About You

You will be someone who is sensitive to the particular needs of vulnerable people, including the aged, people with intellectual and physical disabilities, and their networks and families.

You will have:

  • Suitable training/qualifications in Personal Care (Certificate III in Individual Support, Ageing and/or Disability)
  • Availability to work across a variety of shifts on weekdays, evenings and weekends
  • Current SA Driver's Licence, own transport and willingness to travel between clients
  • Current DCSI Child-Related (DHS Working With Children Check) and Aged Care Employment Screening, or ability to obtain prior to commencement of employment
  • Current First Aid and Manual Handling Certificates
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Physical fitness appropriate for duties being undertaken
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant privacy, confidentiality and security legislation
  • Demonstrated understanding of WHS risks associated with the position (both from client and Support Worker perspective)
  • A commitment to the program's success and to attend relevant training
  • The ability to communicate and use a smart phone/tablet for telephone and electronic communication

Ideally, you may also have experience in the Community Sector as an Aged or Disability Support Worker, with experience supporting individuals with dementia, intellectual disabilities, autism, asperger's or speech disorders.
