The Role

As a Garden and Maintenance Worker, your primary responsibility will be performing preventative and programmed maintenance at UCWB locations and client homes. You will perform tasks to a high standard, ensuring that accreditation/compliance standards are met and maintained.

The tasks you may be required to perform include:

Grounds Maintenance:

  • Mowing, pruning, weeding, general outdoor tidy up, raking and sweeping
  • Mulching of garden beds
  • Clearing gutters
  • Removal of rubbish

Property Maintenance:

  • Basic repair work
  • Hanging pictures
  • Changing light globes
  • General equipment maintenance and repair
  • Furniture removals
  • Window washing

About You

You will be someone who is able to demonstrate previous success in the areas of building and garden maintenance and repair, who is interested in making a contribution to our community.

Qualifications and experience

You will have:

  • Knowledge of a variety of building maintenance procedures and techniques
  • Knowledge of the machinery, equipment and tools necessary for building and garden maintenance and repair
  • Experience performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
  • Skills in using hand and power tools
  • Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to be organised and meet strict deadlines
  • Effective use of manual handling skills
  • Knowledge of WHS standards and requirements, including knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • High level of customer service
  • Current SA Driver's Licence
  • Current DCSI Child-Related Employment Screening, or ability to obtain one prior to commencement of employment

Ideally you will also have experience in engaging with diverse clientele, including those with complex and sensitive circumstances, and/or experience in a similar role.

To be successful in this role, you will be required to undergo a Pre-Employment Medical and Functional Assessment to determine your ability to meet the physical requirements of the role.


This role is a field based position working within our client’s homes across metropolitan Adelaide. Some work may also be performed at UCWB’s Bowden, Marion or Torrensville sites.
